he Back Roads and Beaches Bike and Multi-Sport Tour of Lorain County is an adventure route that combines all the unique environmental, recreational, historical, cultural, and wellness and health-related entities into an easy-to-follow route. The route caters to cycling tourists who are looking for cultural and historical attractions to visit, and multi-sport athletes who want to combine a challenging ride with kayaking, swimming, hiking or mountain biking in one of Ohio’s most scenic and bike-friendly areas. Scenery on the route changes from forested state park-land and agricultural back roads to the nautical atmosphere of the Lake Erie shoreline. Back Roads and Beaches follows a marked 60-mile loop that runs north-south in the western part of Lorain County, connecting Vermilion, Oberlin and Wellington. A 50-mile out-and-back ride on U.S. Route 6 connects Vermilion, Lorain, Sheffield Lake and Avon Lake along Lake Erie. This award-winning route features Underground Railroad history, galleries, museums and several restaurants that serve locally-grown, organic, and vegetarian cuisine.

here do you turn for answers to life’s difficult questions related to every day issues? Who do you call when you need a helping hand? In 1988, Community Resource Services (CRS) was established as a private, non-profit social service agency to serve our neighbors in need of help and answers. For over 20 years, our mission has been to serve as a community-based network that assesses needs, provides assistance and connects residents in Avon and Avon Lake with resources in a compassionate and confidential manner.

CRS provides local assistance including emergency food, utility and medical assistance, advocacy with housing, basic human needs and youth-related programs. Additional programming is available to develop life skills changes. Our Helping Hands Program provides help to homeowners in need of work around their homes or yards.
Thanks to CRS, our neighbors know that someone cares about their family’s needs, no matter what those needs might be.
